Rejina Kendy was six months pregnant when she was murdered.

She was killed by her husband who was out on $3000 bail for a previous incident having to do with an earlier pregnancy.

“We want to be together,” he was reported to have told police. “We love each other. I can’t have her go to a shelter. She’s pregnant.”

Crown prosecutor opposed the release at the bail hearing, stressing the violence of the alleged assault and the fact it was triggered by a dispute over a previous pregnancy.

Regardless, he was granted bail and ordered again to stay away from Rejina Kendy. Three weeks later, her and her preborn child were found dead in their Kitchener apartment.

It has been difficult to find further information regarding the sentencing of their killer. I have found this to be true in many cases of murdered pregnant women.
